Rudi the watering can is a virtual game designed during the 30h “Limited time” contest at Laval Virtual 2012 by Yohan Courbe, Thibault De Groef, Ludovic Laffineur and Warren Paulus, students at ISIB (Engineer High School in Brussels).
Using a Kinect, a Wiimote, a webcam and some other stuff including -the- watering can, the mysterious object they had to include in their work, they made a funny gardening game for kids where gestures and sounds are used to interact with the virtual environment.

Une équipe de quatre étudiants: Yohan Courbe (2nd Master in Informatics), Thibault De Groef (1st Master in Electronics), Ludovic Laffineur (1st Master in Informatics) and Warren Paulus (1st Master in Informatics) participe à “Laval Virtual 2012” au concours “Limited Time”.
Ils ont 30 heures non-stop pour réaliser un projet interactif intégrant de la réalité augmentée.
La contrainte est d’utiliser au minimum : une Kinect Camera, une Wiimote Plus, une Webcam, un Makedo et un objet mystère qui n’est dévoilé qu’au début de l’épreuve. Ils ont reçu un arrosoir … Bonne chance.
L’équipe du LARAS organise un programme intensif sur le thème des “Interactions Homme-Machine innovantes”.
Ce programme subventionné par la communauté européenne se tiendra du 30 janvier au 8 février 2012.
25 étudiants venant d’Autriche, du Portugal, de Gand et de Bruxelles y participent.
Une présentation publique aura lieu à l’IMAL le mardi 7 février 2012.

Pascale Barret et Rudi Giot présentent au Kyma International Sound Symposium (KISS2011) à Porto “Beautiful Beasts” le 18 septembre 2011 .
Houda Jaaouani, stagiaire venant de l’ESIGETEL, présente dans notre laboratoire, le 2 septembre 2011 à 11H, son travail portant sur la sonification d’une base de données.
Ce projet consiste en la récupération de données dans une B.D. pour être transformées et renvoyées dans un système de génération de sons.
Cela permet par exemple, d’ “écouter” les variations des marchés boursiers, l’évolution des conditions météorologiques, etc.
Rudi Giot, Sergio Rodrigues et Jacques Tichon présentent, à Weimar, à la convention Pure Data 2011, un article sur “Image Processing Algorithm Optimization with CUDA for Pure Data”. Le programme complet des conférences se trouve à cette adresse.
